Ferne Valley Farm (FVF), LLC CSA Flower Subscription Customer Agreement

 

Section 1: General Information

 

A. FVF's Growing Practices

 

FVF is not certified organic; however, we do not use synthetic chemical herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. In fact, we do not even use organically certified pesticides because of the danger to native pollinators. We use minimal tillage, cover crops, mulch, and compost to preserve and enhance soil structure and health. In addition, we are committed to being a 100% transparent farm. We welcome our subscribers, and anyone else, to visit and take a tour of the farm.

 

B. Bouquet Expectations

 

We strive to provide the freshest flowers possible to our subscribers. If at any time your weekly bouquet does not meet your expectations, or the vase life of the flowers is less than five (5) days, please reach out and we will do what we can to remedy the issue.

 

C. Flower Subscription

 

Subscribers will receive six (6) bouquets, one per week for six weeks, consisting of mixed flowers currently available on FVF. In most, if not all, cases, every flower in these bouquets will have been grown from seed at FVF.

 

Bouquets will be available each Wednesday for pickup between 9am-4pm at two locations. Please note that the preferred location must be determined prior to the subscription start date, and that the location must remain constant throughout the six-week subscription. For an additional charge, the customer may request local delivery of their weekly bouquet. More detailed information about deliveries is described below.

 

The first 2024 subscription period begins with the first pick-up/delivery on: Wednesday, June 26th, and final pick-up/delivery on: Wednesday, July 31st. The second share of the season will begin on Wednesday, August 7th, ending on Wednesday, September 11th.

 

Section 2: The risk of crop failure

 

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful bouquet each week. We use irrigation, row cover, integrated pest management, and other sustainable practices to minimize the risk of crop loss. Despite these efforts, the available flowers may vary from week to week and season to season due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors. Ferne Valley Farm commits to provide you with a bouquet for all six weeks of your subscription, and if any of these factors make this goal unattainable, we will refund your money for any missed weeks.

 

Section 3: Bouquet Pick-Up

 

Two locations have been designated as pick-up spots for the weekly bouquets:

  1. Moon Hollow Coffee, Blair – 1406 Washington Street, Blair, NE 68008

  2. Moon Hollow Coffee Lounge, Omaha – 5102 N 156th Street, Omaha, NE 68116

 

A pick-up location must be selected at the time of CSA purchase. Bouquets are available for pickup on Wednesdays from 9am to 4pm. The subscriber will be responsible for communicating if and when they are unable to pick up a bouquet on the designated day, and will discuss options with FVF. The most popular of options is to gift that week’s bouquet to a person in the local area. In this case, please notify FVF that another individual will be picking up that week’s bouquet at the original pick-up location.

 

If the subscriber fails to pick up their bouquet during the designated hours, and does not provide notice or work out another option with FVF, the subscriber may forfeit that week’s bouquet. FVF will reach out to try and work out something, such as an on-farm pick-up the following day; however, this is not guaranteed. Communication is key!

Section 4: Bouquet Delivery

 

Delivery of bouquets is available at an additional charge of $5 per week, and should be paid for at the time of initial CSA sign-up. The subscriber does not need to be present to accept the bouquet, but may give instructions for a spot where the bouquet may be left. The subscriber will be responsible for communicating if and when they are unable to accept a bouquet, and will discuss options with FVF. The most popular of options is to gift that week’s bouquet to a person in the local area. In this case, with at least 24 hours’ notice, FVF will deliver the bouquet to the recipient’s place of choice.

 

During the first week’s delivery, FVF will supply the subscriber with a jar in which the bouquet will be delivered. The expectation is that, for the following five weeks, the subscriber makes available that jar, or another appropriate receptacle, for the new flower delivery. If the delivery is being dropped off on a doorstep or other place without a personal interaction, the jar or receptacle should be left out with water in it for that week’s bouquet to be placed into.

 

Section 5: Payment

 

A. Payment schedule

 

Subscribers will pay a total of $20 per week for a total of $120 for the six-week period, if the self-pick-up option is selected. An additional $5 per week will be charged if the delivery option is selected upon ordering. All orders must be placed on www.fernevalleyfarm.com unless a separate option is discussed prior to the start of the subscription period. Payment must be made no later than the Monday before the start of the subscription period.

B. Cancellation and Refund policy

​

If at any time the subscriber wishes to cancel their subscription, we ask for one (1) week’s notice. The subscriber will receive a refund of the value of their remaining bouquets, minus a $10 processing fee.

 

Section 6: Communication

We will do our best to respond within 24 hours. Please contact us with any news of the following: necessary changes to your delivery, any week(s) you are unable to receive your bouquet, dissatisfaction with your flowers, or anything else you would like us to know.

FVF will communicate with subscribers by email. Though unlikely, FVF reserves the right to change any part of this Subscriber Agreement & Guidelines document. The subscriber understands that FVF will be in contact via email in advance of any changes to this agreement.
